Outreach

The Gospel of Jesus is for every city, state and nation, and at New Covenant, we are committed to seeing this message shared at home and around the world. The opportunity to go and make disciples is open to each of us.  Wherever you decide to go, watch your faith grow as you step outside your comfort zone and experience different cultures and people while bringing the good news of Christ.

Jesus said, “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” (Matt. 28:19)

Vision + Mission for Missions

The world is a huge place, and the need is great for people to hear and understand the gospel.  But, because the world is a huge place, it is hard to know where to even begin in doing our part in fulfilling the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20).  We have a viable strategy as well as specifics on how New Covenant is endeavoring to do its part in the Great Commission. We are governed by the following principles:

Biblical Pattern
Jesus told His disciples to wait in Jerusalem until they were ‘endued with power from on high’ (Luke 24:49). This empowerment by the Holy Spirit would enable them to bear witness in “Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and the end of the earth” (Acts 1:8).

The Leading of the Holy Spirit.
Within this wide framework, where is God specifically guiding us to be involved?

Dynamic and Fluid
The mission field can change rapidly. Doors can unexpectedly open and close. Favor (receptivity) with others can change quickly. Opportunities and involvement need regular review and response.

“Jerusalem”

Jerusalem refers to our city, and the immediate region around it

Our primary instrument in reaching people is the one God set forth in His Word, which is the local church. We exist to reach and disciple people from every walk of life. There is no greater instrument in the hands of God to make disciples than a church governed by New Testament truth, life, love, and power. So, our primary missions endeavor, the one we put the most energy and resources toward, is our local church.

Unite is a collective effort of area pastors begun in 2018 to promote unity, leadership growth and bring about community transformation. Thousands are influenced and inspired through an annual Unite conference with world class speakers and the Transformation group studies, from the John Maxwell organization, which have been implemented in churches, businesses and civic organizations throughout the community. Pastor Stephen serves on the board and New Covenant is a regular contributor to its operating budget.

“Samaria”

Samaria was near Jerusalem but represented a culture the Jews considered a spiritually and morally compromised lifestyle. As a result, the Jews tended to look down on them, and tended to avoid them. Modern ‘Samaritans’ would represent marginalized people, both economically and culturally.

Treasure is an outreach to the marginalized and poor among us through a weekly outreach in the poorer areas of East Texas with a meal, clothing distribution, and inspiring messages and testimonies, as well as a church serving that community.

Rahab’s Retreat is a residential center in Kilgore, TX to provide safety, healing, and transformation to women coming out of the sex industry, as well as from other destructive lifestyles. At any given time there are around 50 young women in the program, which lasts from one year up to four years, as these women complete their education and career training. Opportunities exist to mentor and host these women as they seek to rebuild their lives according to God’s plan.
